A week ago, Alex finished the 2026 London Marathon to raise funds for us, supporting the continuation of all our services. He volunteered just 5 weeks before the event, despite not having engaged in running training for quite some time. Fortunately, his skiing maintained his fitness, and he dedicated himself to training with the goal of completing the 26.2 miles in approximately 3:30 hours. What an incredible achievement! Not only did he finish the marathon in 3:33:59, but he also managed to raise £1,397 (£1,629 with gift aid).
Alex's friends, who are support by FASD Awareness, attended to support him and learn about his experience with the London Marathon.
A few words from Alex
"Taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2026 was an unforgettable experience. The day began early, with a train journey into central London at 07:15, already packed with runners and spectators. There was a real sense of excitement and anticipation in the air, shared among friendly volunteers and fellow participants.
The run itself was unlike anything else, with streets lined by cheering crowds from start to finish. High-fives, sweets, drinks, banners, and live music all combined to give runners that extra boost when it was needed most.
The weather was fantastic, although the rising heat made the 26.2 miles increasingly challenging as the day went on.
It was great to see my friends who FASD Awareness supports at the finish line; it made running for FASD Awareness even more special.
Overall, it was a brilliant day—a record-breaking one—and a fantastic opportunity to raise money for some truly worthwhile causes!"
